A community tradition nearly 20 years strong!
Every Easter, as the sea breeze softens and families spill out onto our ovals and foreshore, Bruny Island comes alive with one of its most loved and enduring traditions – the Bruny Island Easter Carnival.
For close to two decades, this grassroots, volunteer-powered event has been the heartbeat of our Easter long weekend, drawing locals, shackies and visitors together for a celebration of fun, family and island spirit.
What began nearly 20 years ago as a small community fundraiser has grown into a vibrant, joy-filled festival featuring woodchopping, kids’ rides, live music, food and craft stalls, competitions, raffles, games, and the famous Easter Egg Hunt that sends little ones racing across the oval with squeals of delight.
Every year we add something new, but the heart of the Carnival remains the same: community, connection, and celebrating what makes Bruny… Bruny.
And behind the scenes? A dedicated band of volunteers who pour their hearts into bringing the Carnival to life – rain, shine or roaring southerly. From setting up marquees to cooking sausages, managing stalls, directing traffic and packing it all away again, it’s a true labour of love.
